About Me
Prof. Idika Kalu Idika is a Professor of Veterinary Parasitology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), a Consultant Clinical Parasitologist at the University of Nigeria Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons, Nigeria (FCVSN). He holds a Ph.D. in Veterinary Helminthology from UNN and has dedicated his career to advancing veterinary medicine through cutting-edge research, innovative education, and impactful leadership.
With extensive experience in teaching, research, and administration, Prof. Idika has made remarkable contributions to parasitology, epidemiology, and ethnomedicine. His research focuses on host-parasite interactions, anthelmintic resistance, and the exploration of natural products for antiparasitic treatments. He has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Postgraduate Award for Best Ph.D. Candidate (2014/2015).
Beyond academia, Prof. Idika has held several key leadership roles, including Director of the Education Innovation Unit, Head of the Department of Veterinary Parasitology & Entomology, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Chairman of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Library Committee at UNN. He also serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Enugu State Chapter, and Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) at UNN, where he continues to influence educational policy and research development.
A passionate mentor and advocate for academic excellence, Prof. Idika is dedicated to shaping the next generation of researchers and educators. Outside his professional pursuits, he enjoys reading, listening to news and documentaries, watching football, and mentoring young scholars.
