Dr. Klaudia Miętkiewska
Hello
Dr. Klaudia Miętkiewska
Assistant Professor, Clinical Skills
About Me
My name is Klaudia Miętkiewska and I am a veterinarian and researcher who graduated from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland, where I discovered my passion for scientific inquiry midway through my studies. My early research focused on heat stress and nutritional deficiencies in dairy cattle, carried out at the Department of Internal Diseases for farm animals. During my time as a student, I also trained in Spain, specializing in cow welfare and milk quality control.

Immediately after earning my degree, I began as a member of the Doctoral School at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where I conducted a research grant on “Transcriptome and Epigenome Analysis in the Assessment of Bovine Oocyte Maturation and Preimplantation Embryo Developmental Competence in Polish HF Cattle.” This work further expanded my expertise in reproductive biology, and I authored several scientific publications on heat stress in cattle and the effect of various factors on the quality of bovine oocytes and embryos. In addition, a three-month internship in Madrid allowed me to deepen my knowledge of in vitro fertilization in cattle, and upon returning to Poland, I established the first in vitro bovine laboratory at Nicolaus Copernicus University.

While pursuing my doctorate at the Academia Copernicana Doctoral School, I was the doctoral students’ representative. In this role, I organized cultural events for fellow researchers, represented their interests to the university administration, mentored international doctoral students, launched social media channels dedicated to doctoral activities, and hosted numerous conferences and workshops. In recognition of these efforts, I received the Rector’s Award for organizational achievements in 2024.

Concurrently, I have been an active clinician, working in multiple veterinary clinics—including a 24-hour clinic—where I focused on internal medicine, reproduction, soft tissue surgery for companion animals, and emergency care. During my clinical practice at the university clinic, I also supervised veterinary students during their internships and discovered a true passion for teaching. I have lectured on animal welfare, physiology, reproduction and insemination, and anatomy to both veterinary students and future veterinary technicians.

I look forward to bringing my extensive experience and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine to Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine. I believe that my modern teaching approach, broad practical expertise, and solid research background will contribute to the success of future veterinarians. Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid music lover and devotee of the Spanish language—a testament to my belief that diverse interests help enrich both personal and professional growth.
