The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) has created the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE®), a pathway for veterinarians who are graduates of international, non-accredited veterinary programs, to practice in North America.

Students who attend Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine while it is still undergoing the accreditation process with CAAM-HP and additional accreditation agencies have a process in place that will enable licensure in North America. After spending 3 years in Aruba, students may then sit for the PAVE QSE (Qualifying Science Exam) and upon successfully passing this exam will then be assigned to an affiliated AVMA-COE accredited institution for the 4th  clinical year of their DVM program. Multiple affiliates have already signed contracts to allow for this Evaluated Clinical Experience (ECE). Upon successful completion of this 4th year ECE, students then qualify to sit for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE), and practice as a licensed veterinarian in the United States and Canada upon successful completion.
